The Leaf Razor

Wet Shaving Meets Cartridge Shaving

I remember the first time I shaved my head. The year was 1996 and I had hair down to my waist all one length. At that time I thought that a hair cut was one of the worst decisions you could ever make. I put a lot of time into growing my hair long and had a lot of pride in my lifestyle that I lived at that time. Even though I had a lot of pride with my long hair in the back of my mind I was getting tired of all of the work it took everyday to get ready. I finally decided enough was enoughleafrazor_30818556913_o but didn’t want a short hair style that I had to put a lot of work into as well. I always admired the Bald lifestyle. For one, no more bad hair days and that really appealed to me. I wasn’t worried about looking different because I already had long hair and was use to looking different in some aspects.

I think individuality is the spice of life. Being an individual helps spark creativity and understanding with constructive criticism. There are many ways to practice individuality and you don’t have to look different to be marked as an individual just follow your own path and be a leader not a follower. Creating something new from something not so new is ingenuity at its best. Creating a concept and adding that ingenuity to create a new product or service takes a lot of imagination and good old fashioned hard work and don’t forget about the positive attitude that goes along with that as leafrazor_31256525720_owell. That’s exactly what happened here when the Leaf Razor was created. The Leaf Razor is a project that started and is still on Kickstarter and ready for pre-order.

The Leaf Razor project is the baby of two engineers that believe in a good shave and getting a good shave with a great razor. They decided to take the art of wet shaving along with cartridge shaving combine them together into a new concept, and along with this new concept of shaving you also need a new breed of razor and that’s when the Leaf Razor was born. I had the chance of trying this razor for myself and I’m pretty impressed with it and you would be as well if you tried it for your self.

A new breed of razor for a new way of shaving!

I received in the mail a package containing one Leaf Razor and a package of 5 Leaf branded DE blades. The Leaf Razor is a new breed merging the safety and cartridge razor into one. At first glanceleafrazor_30818581793_o the Leaf Razor does resemble a cartridge razor but after closer look you will see that it is very different. The Leaf Razor doesn’t even come close to resembling a safety razor but uses single edge razor blades. The body of the Leaf Razor follows the same basic design as a cartridge razor does with a long handle that widens more at the top of the razor housing. When picking it up for the first time you will notice right away how light it is. The body is made out of a strong and lightweight metal. The handle is contoured with striations located on the bottom to help maintain your grip during shaving especially as it gets saturated with water. A bluish tactile leaf accent is located on the bottom front leafrazor_31256521700_o of the handle that compliments the razor perfectly.

The head of the razor is were all of the magic happens. Unlike cartridge razors the Leaf Razor gives you the option of using 1-3 blades for shaving. You determine how many blades you want and load the blades into the head of the razor yourself. The Leaf Razor doesn’t just use any blades. It uses single edge razor blades or you can always use your favorite double edge razor blades by break them in half to get the single edge razor blade. This option is exciting to me. I can choose my favorite double edge razor blade to use in the Leaf Razor. A package ofleafrazor_30787402014_o five DE blades could load your Leaf Razor multiple times depending on how many blades you use for shaving. How many blades at one time will you use? How aggressive of a shave do you want? How often will you shave? These are all questions you may ask yourself when using the Leaf Razor and they can addresses some of these questions on their website. Loading the head of the razor with one blade at the top of the razor head is the less aggressive shave. The more blades you load the more aggressive of shave you will get. If you have very fine and soft hair than a less aggressive shave may be what you want. If your hair is very coarse or curly then the more aggressive setting may be right up your alley.

Lets talk about the difference between cutting and pulling hair. With a cartridge razor you have 1-5 blades on the head of the razorleafrazor_30818581233_o with one blade guard located at the bottom of the head. This blade guard usually has some kind of a moisturizing agent like Aloe Vera. With only one blade guard at the bottom of the razor head there’s not much protection for your skin against the razor blades themselves. These blades have equal pressure against your skin during shaving causing the razor to pull and tug your hair out instead of cutting it off at the skin level. Tugging or pulling your hair out of your skin can lead to ingrown hair and razor bumps. The Leaf Razor uses aleafrazor_31256551630_o Tapered Exposure System simply meaning tapering of the blades aggressiveness and this is what really sets the Leaf Razor apart from other razors and into the category of hibred razor. With the Leaf Razor each blade has its own blade guard that tapers the blade off to your desired aggressiveness. Position one which is the blade located at the bottom of the razor head is the most aggressive with more of the blade against your skin. Position two is less aggressive with a blade guard that allows less blade exposure on the skin and position three located at the top of the head has a blade guard allowing very little blade exposure.

Three blade settings with their own blade guards means less pressure while cutting the hair off at skin level instead of tugging leafrazor_31513024941_oand pulling the hair out like cartridge razors. Loading the head of the Leaf Razor is easy and painless. First choose your favorite blade. If your favorite blade is already single edge then your half way there already. If your favorite blade is a double edge razor blade just break it in half turning it into a single blade razor blade. Either way works fine. Unlock the head of the razor by unscrewing it. The screw is captive so you can’t lose it. Once the head is loosened it opens up and you have your choice of position 1, 2 or 3. Each position hasleafrazor_31482072232_o its own platform with an alignment feature to load your blade correctly. Each positioning platform also has its own little magnets built into the platform to help hold the blade in place during the loading process. I really like how this whole process works because it makes loading and unloading your very sharp blades very easy and safe. Once the blades are all loaded simply close the razor head and tighten the screw and your ready to start shaving. The guys over at Leaf Razor really put a lot of time and effort into making a great razor that provides a great shave and also made safety a priority as well. Easy, safe and fantastic! Yep that’s Leaf Razor!

A Great Shave for all Shavers!

I also received along with the Leaf Razor a package of 5 Leaf branded double edge razor blades to turn into single edge blades. I decided to make the first position my very first shave with the Leaf Razor. The first position was a very mild shave and worked well for my face shave. The leafrazor_31513028311_ohair on my face is pretty fine but to mild for my head shave. It took several passes on position one to get the baby butt smooth feel I love after each shave. The second shave I decided to try the second position making this shave closer but still more milder. The face shave was still close and comfortable with minor irritation but no scrapes, cuts or nicks. The head shave with the second position was more aggressive and took less passes but still more milder than I wanted it to be, so on to the third position which is the most aggressive setting on the Leaf Razor. I loaded the blade into the third leafrazor_31256522880_oposition on the razor and know all three platforms are filled with blades. What a difference there was between the second and third position. The face and head shave was smoother and still just as comfortable as the last two positions. I knew right away that the third position was the level of aggressiveness that I was looking for.

Know that all three positions were filled with blades it was time to get down to the business of shaving and see what the Leaf Razor can do. I shaved both my head and face for seven days straight with the Leaf Razor using the Leaf branded razor blades as my primary choice for each shaveleafrazor_30787385064_o. I shaved my head in the same fashion with multiple angles every day. On the top of my head I shave against he grain starting at the front and working my way to the back. leafrazor_30818559503_oOn the sides of my head I always start shaving at the top and work my way down. I then switch angles to sideways and start shaving back to front dragging my razor instead of pulling it. For the third angle I turn the razor upside down and shave from bottom to the top. After the top and sides were done I focused all of my attention to the back of my head. Whenever I’m reviewing a new razor the leafrazor_31256525020_oback of my head is always a good challenge because there’s more real-estate to cover. If the razor shaves the back of my head well then I know I have a great razor. I first shave from top of the back of my head to bottom and then turn the razor upside down and shave from the bottom up. The Leaf Razor shaved the back of my head like a true champion. Very impressive and fast as well.

The feel of the shave with the Leaf Razor does resemble the feel of a cartridge razor shave but at the same time it doesn’t. It felt more like I was cutting the hair on my head and face and not pulling it from my skin like a cartridge razor does. The head of the razor pivots in a 90 degree angle during shaving helping to prevent too much pressure applied across the skin decreasing the risk of razor burn, leafrazor_31256521700_ocuts, nicks and scrapes. The long and lightweight handle of the Leaf Razor made it easy to maneuver around and in between the tight places on my head and face during my nightly shave. The striations located on the back of the handle made gripping and holding onto the handle easier with no slippage. Even after the handle of the razor was saturated with water it stayed in the palm of my hand. Each shave with the Leaf Razor was smooth and comfortable. The Leaf Razor handles like a cartridge razor but shaves like a safety razor providing a quality shave with great skin care benefits.

The Leaf Branded razor blades are robust and long lasting. I loaded the Leaf Razor with three blades and they lasted for 6 head and face shaves before reloading the razor again. This is a pretty big savings for me once I did the math. A package of 5 double edge razor blades breaksleafrazor_30787402014_o down into 10 single edge razor blades. That’s 3 loads for the Leaf Razor. Shaving every day I get 6 shaves per load so all together 18 shaves a month with the Leaf Razor on the most aggressive setting. That’s with a daily head and face shave. If I skipped one day of head shaving then I could squeeze an extra day out of each load or if I really pushed it I could get 7 days of shaving out of one razor load. There are many ways I could actually get one month of shaving with one package of blades. A package of 5 double edge razor blades cost an average of  $1-$5. Before I started wet shaving I shaved with cartridge razors and would spend $20-$25 a month on razors. Once you do the math you will see the huge savings the Leaf Razor will bring to your pocket without sacrificing the quality of shave at the same time.

Final Thoughts

So what are my final thoughts on the Leaf Razor and Leaf branded double edge razor blades? A great shave for a wet shaver or cartridge shaver and all of those in between. I really think the Leaf Razor leafrazor_30818559553_owill do well in both the wet shaving and cartridge shaving category. Some shavers want to break away from cartridge shaving into wet shaving but are not sure were to start. I think the Leaf Razor could be an introductory into the use of double edge razor blades and the beginning of wet shaving. For shavers that already have experience with wet shaving such as myself, what  attracts me to this razor is that if I want a fast shave while still using my favorite double edge razor blades I can accomplish and still get a quality shave that’s good for my skin at the same time.

The tapered exposure with each positions blade guard provides more of a wet shaving experience since the blade guard leafrazor_31591745576_oprevents too much pressure against your skin. These blade guards as well as the tapered exposure decreases the risk of razor burn, cuts or nicks. The Leaf Razor is a great razor for everyone and it blurs the boundaries between wet shaving and cartridge shaving into a new category for everyone to enjoy. This is not a cartridge razor or a safety razor, the Leaf Razor is a hybrid razor by Leaf shaving and its a fantastic shave and way to start your day. The Leaf Razor and Leaf double edge razor blades are approved by TheBaldNation for our Bald Nation. Love your products and you will love the results. Thank you and have a #Baldtastic day!

The DreadNought Spartan Safety Razor

The Spartan Safety Razor

What do you look for when you are acquiring a new safety razor? Do you ask yourself questions before you start looking or do you just look around until you see one you like? Are you specific with your searches regarding blade gap, how many grams the razor weights or what dreadnought_30120234123_okind of knurling the handle of the razor has? When you finally find the razor you want to, do you read reviews submitted by other shavers to see if you will like it or not? One question leads to another and before you know it your writing them down so you can remember them. In the beginning when I first started practicing the art of wet shaving I did the same thing. It got to be very tiring and turned into a lot of extra work. After practicing a lot and gaining some experience this is the conclusion I’ve reached about what questions to ask. Don’t ask as many and it wont become so overwhelming.

I’ve gotten to the point to were when I do find a safety razor that I want I briefly look at a couple of reviews to see if there is anything bad the reviewer has found with the razor. If I don’t read anything seriously devastating to make me change my mind then I let my own judgment do the talking. Finding new safety razorsdreadnought_30120233673_o has become less work and more fun that way. When I first started wet shaving I was directed to the website by a friend and I saw the “Spartan” safety razor and I knew from the very beginning that this was a safety razor that I wanted to try. DreadNought manufactures all of their products in Great Britain with pride for men of the U.S.A and Canada. DreadNought believes in tradition of craftsmanship through cutting edge technology meeting and exceeding the grooming needs of modern man. I recently had a chance to review their “Spartan” safety razor and it’s obviously clear that once you try this razor for yourself you’ll find that their tradition of craftsmanship lives on in their products.

A Smooth Shave From The Spartan Razor!

Waiting for safety razors in the mail is always a fun time for me. I love the anticipation of opening the box it came shipped in. In my own opinion not every safety razor is the same. Some have longer handles, are heavier in weight, have a deep knurling on the handle, somedreadnought_30455214240_o have no knurling at all and some are more aggressive than others as well. Some safety razors have a well that runs on the bottom of the razor head and some razor heads are beveled. All safety razors are made differently and some require more angle or pressure than others to get that great shave you’re looking for every time. I found Dreadnought-Shaving in the very beginning when I first started wet shaving and I knew that I wanted to try their Spartan safety razor but wasn’t sure when that would be. I finally got the chance I’ve been waiting for and after the first shave I knew I found a great razor to add to my growing collection of safety razors.

The Spartan safety razor weights in at 67g and is 9.5 cm in length. The razor itself is very shiny and sleek looking. From top todreadnought_30123694884_o bottom it shines with a smooth finish. A lot of safety razors have a knurling on the handle to help with gripping but not the Spartan razor. The handle is free of any kind of knurling but don’t write it off for a razor that slips out of your hands easily. The Spartan razor even with the smooth and sleek handle has a fantastic grip. Even when wet this razor stays in the palm of your hand. This weighted razor in addition to the lengthy handle is well balanced and provides precision maneuverability around the spots that are harder to shave. My two hardest spots to shave are my jaw line and around my ears.

I always seem to either cut myself or cause irritation. The Spartan razor made it easy to shave these areas without either of the two. Thedreadnought_30120233203_o well balanced handle felt very comfortable in the palm of my hand. Each stroke of the Spartan razor was fluid and smooth. It took two passes with a couple of touch ups shaving with the grain (WTG) and against the grain (ATG) on my head to achieve the baby butt smooth (BBS) feel I love so much. The face shave was just as smooth as the head shave was. Two passes and some small touch ups is what it took for the same level of smoothness on my face compared to my head. The Spartan razor from Dreadnought-Shaving was a great shave and I look forward to using it more often.

The Spartan razor is a closed comb razor meaning there is a safety bar that runs across the bottom of the razor head on bothdreadnought_30120229773_o sides. The blade gap on the razor head falls in the medium aggressive range making this a perfect razor for a beginner or an experienced wet shaver and all of the others in between. This is a three piece standard razor. The razor head screws/unscrews from the handle and separates into two pieces for easy cleaning and blade removal. Since the handle of this razor lacks knurling and has a smooth surface the cleaning of this razor is simple and easy. It’s practically small maintenance compared to some other safety razors. The Spartan safety razor fits all of your standard double edge blades so you can always use your favorite blade every time you shave.

I also received a pack of ten Dreadnought double edge razor blades for my week of shaving with the Spartan razor. The Dreadnought branded DE blades felt great on the skin. This medium aggressive blade is dreadnought_30123696174_overy hearty. I got 5-6 days worth of shaving both my head and face out of one blade. After day 6 it was time to change the blade. Depending on how many times you shave will depend on how long one blade will last for you. Overall my experience with the Spartan safety razor and Dreadnought branded DE blades was a good one. I feel very fortunate to have the Spartan razor and Dreadnought DE blades in my shaving cabinet along with my other shaving products and you will too after you try this combination for yourself!

Final Thoughts

What are my final thoughts on the Spartan safety razor and Dreadnought branded DE blades from Dreadnought-Shaving.Com? A great shave for a beginning to seasoned wet shaver and all the others in between. The Spartan safety razor weights in at 67g and is 9.5 cm in length making this razor well balanced and perfect for maneuveringdreadnought_30639080642_o around those hard to shave areas with precision shaving. The Spartan razor is shiny and has no knurling on the handle but still has a no slip grip even after the Spartan razor get saturated with water it still stays in the palm of your hands like a true champion. The head of the Spartan razor is medium aggressive for a great shave that only took two passes and some touch ups to achieve the baby butt smooth end feel I’m always looking to achieve. The Dreadnought branded DE blades are a fine blade of medium aggressiveness that are hearty at the core and last for 5-6 shaves. I’m a big fan of all that is DreadNought and look forward to using their products more. The Spartan safety razor and branded DreadNought DE blades are approved by TheBaldNation for our Bald Nation. Rockwell Razors

The Rockwell 6S Adjustable Stainless Steel Safety Razor

Have you ever heard the saying ‘Not all safety razors are the same’? Well that statement is very true. All safety razors are different. Some29753935302_4982662d42_o safety razors have long handles, some razors have short handles. Some razors are aggressive and some razors are not. Some razors are closed comb and some are open comb. You also have the butterfly safety razor. The head of the butterfly safety razor splits down the middle and the doors open simultaneously with twisting of the handle. The other option is the standard safety razor head that screws on/off of the handle separating into two pieces. Last but not least, the adjustable razors have several different blade lengths ranging from 1-6 depending on the length and coarseness of your hair. You can make this adjustment by turning a dial on the handle. Like I said, there are many different options to choose from 29753936242_b23f99964b_owhen picking a safety razor.

There is a new type of safety razor on the market that’s starting to turn some heads. Rockwell Razors has reinvented the adjustable razor through a new concept of using different base plates to adjust the aggressiveness of the DE blade. Rockwell razors believes providing the best shave a man can get through the adjustability system of their razors. Rockwell razors provides a customizable and tailored shaving experience that offers a close and comfortable shave every time. I can honestly say that Rockwell razors is definitely worth trying and I’m sure you will be glad that you did.

A Close, Smooth and Comfortable Shave!

After talking with my new friends over at Rockwell razors about their new Rockwell 6S safety razor I waited very patiently for the 6S to arrive in the mail. I remember pulling into my driveway and seeing a box sitting on my porch and I knew just what was inside the box waiting29784761591_ca29d4a001_o for me. The initial impression was good, right away I noticed how nice the packaging was. The razor along with all of the adjustable base plates as well as the stand came in a black cardboard box. The company’s name and description of the razor contained inside of the box was printed on top of the lid in white lettering that was easy to read. The box was lined with a thick foam insert that kept all of the product safe during transportation. The packaging was simple yet classy. Their product packaging says right away, hello we love our products and we want you to love our products too. I knew as 29784763001_218c8955dd_oI was unboxing my new Rockwell 6S razor and its counterparts that I was going to love it before I even used it, and boy was I right!

The big difference between the Rockwell 6S Adjustable Razor and other adjustable razors lies with the adjustable plates that the Rockwell 6S uses.  A traditional adjustable safety razor has a numbered dial on the handle for adjusting the blade to its desired length. The Rockwell 6S uses a flippable base plate system to achieve the desired aggressiveness that’s customizable to the coarseness of hair and sensitivity of your skin. The razor comes with 3 reversible base plates with sizing 1-6. Base plate29832407136_f5343d4942_o A: sizes 1 and 3, Base plate B: sizes 2 and 4, Base plate C: sizes 5 and 6. With six different blade settings you are sure to find your magic number for a great shave. So what do the numbers represent? The numbers represent how much of the blade is exposed to the skin. The number one is least aggressive and is for men with fine hair, short stubble or sensitive skin. The number six is the most aggressive setting for men with coarse and curly facial hair, longer stubble, or rugged skin. The  numbers two through five are for all those in between. What number works best for you depends on skin integrity and 29240183534_f4663a06ea_osensitivity as well as what kind of facial hair you have. It really is a customizable shave all the way. You may have to shave a few times on each number to see which one works best for you.

If you are wondering how you know if you’re using the right number, the way you tell is easy. If you want to try setting six then the side of the base plate that’s stamped with the number six should be facing out. After shaving a few times on each number I decided that my favorite number to get the best head shave as well as face shave was the number six which is the most aggressive setting on the Rockwell 6S safety razor. Although I’m unsure of the actual weight of the 6S I do know that it has some heft to it making each29241105683_a63c7d798c_o stroke nice and fluid. The handle of the 6S has a nice knurling making it easy to hold on to. It doesn’t slip out of your hand while shaving so its pretty easy to navigate around the contours of your face and head. Like I previously stated,  I used the Rockweel 6S for a couple of times on different settings before I decided that setting number six was my favorite.

I used the Rockwell 6S for seven consecutive head and face shaves. I shaved with the grain (WTG) and against the grain (ATG) on my head with multiple angles. 29753928152_8c81f33281_oThe heftiness of the razor added enough pressure across my skin making each shave smooth and comforting. I also received along with the Rockwell 6S a package of 100 count Rockwell Razors Swedish stainless steel razor blades. The Rockwell double edge razor blades provide a comforting shave. These blades are medium aggressive and provide several shaves per blade. Usually as a blade gets used more and it starts to dull and the performance of the blade starts to suffer as well. That’s simply not the case with the Rockwell double edge razor blades, it seems like the performance of the blades improves after each shave. The blade still starts to dull but each 29240198184_4e205e2a83_oshave seems to get smoother. I’m now a big fan of the Rockwell double edge razor blades and plan on using them often through out the next year. Last but not least I also received the all stainless steel razor stand that fits the Rockwell 6S perfectly. This stainless steel stand is pretty heavy and is designed to hold the Rockwell 6S in an upright position. This stainless steel stand has the same brushed finish as the Rockwell 6S safety razor does. If you’re looking for a great razor that provides a great shave than look no further than the Rockwell 6S safety razor. You’re going to love the razor and love the shave even more.

Final Thoughts

So what are my final thoughts on the Rockwell 6S Adjustable Stainless Steel Safety Razor? A classic razor with a new concept. The Rockwell 6S changes the adjustability component of a turnable dial to flippable base plates. Each base plate has a different number on each side. The numbered side of the base plate that you want for shaving should be facing outward. The Rockwell 6S comes with 3 base plates and each side is numbered differently. Base plate A: sizes 1 and 3, Base plate B: sizes 2 and 4, Base plate C: sizes 5 and 6. What 29240197304_527beba03a_onumber works best for you is solely depending on what kind of shave you want. The number six was and still is my favorite number for shaving. The number six provided a head and face shave that was both aggressive and smooth. It took two passes with some touch ups to achieve the baby butt smooth end feel after each shave. The Rockwell double edge razor blades are a quality blade that goes the distance. I used one blade for 7 days of shaving booth my head and face. The blade still started to dull but still provided a close shave. The all stainless steel stand that came with the razor has the same brushed finish and keeps the Rockwell 6S standing upright after each shave until your ready for the next shave. The Rockwell 6S Adjustable Stainless Steel Safety Razor, Rockwell double edge razor blades and all stainless steel stand are approved by TheBaldNation for our Bald Nation. Love your products and you will love the results. Thank you and have a #Baldtastic day.

Get a Manly Shave With The Safety Razor

Let’s be honest. There’s nothing like a great shave from a great safety razor. There are literally thousands of safety razors available on the market today and all of them are different. Not all safety razors are manlystuff_29771804650_othe same. Some may look the same but they all provide a different shaving experience. What to look for when acquiring a new safety razor depends on what kind of shave you want . Everyone is different and looking for a different shaving experience. I think it’s important to do your research before buying any safety razor to see if it’s what you are looking for. There are many websites now that sell the whole spectrum of shaving gear. Were you find safety razors you will also find its counter parts such as brushes, bowls and stands and most sites also include grooming essentials such as creams and soaps. Truth be told, there are a lot of sites that sell manlystuff_30031853206_oquality razors along with the other shaving gear that is needed for wet shaving. I want to tell you about one site that I found that sells these quality items so you don’t have to bother looking any farther. is a website that sells safety razors and all of the other shaving gear as well. They also sell shaving creams and soaps along with some other items that are non shaving related but related to men’s dress and lifestyle. Even though the other items are not shaving related they are relevant together. centers their website and mission around providingmanlystuff_30031862616_o the every day man with high quality items for their lifestyle. One of the aspects of that I like is that they use the products that they are selling for personal use  to ensure that they are selling you a product of higher quality.

I think that them using a product before deciding whether to sell it on their website gives them a sense of honesty and trustworthiness that their customers will appreciate. Honesty and trustworthiness keeps customers coming back for more and turns one time customers into reoccurring customers. If you have not yet visited yet you should and check out their product lines from shaving equipment and grooming tools to men’s apparel.

The Knight!

I was looking forward to receiving my new safety razor in the mail from, I love the anticipation of getting new safety razors in the mail. Even though you see the pictures of what your new safety razor is going to look like. There is nothing like opening the box it comes shipped in and viewing it for the first time. It’s like Christmasmanlystuff_29771805350_o day! I received ‘The Knight’ safety razor from The Knight weights in at 95 grams giving it a nice weight requiring less pressure applied against the skin during shaving since you’re letting gravity do most of the work. The Knight measures in at 16.5 mm in diameter, it feels good in the palm of your hand and is 101 mm in length. This long black matte handled safety razor has a knurling that gives the handle a nice grip even after it gets wet. It easily stays put in the palm of your hand with no slippage.

The blade gap on the razor head of The Knight safety razor provides a mild shave but that doesn’t mean that it’s not a close and comfortable shave. The heft of this safety razor adds just manlystuff_29982672881_othe right amount of pressure creating a comfortable shave with little to no irritation. I used The Knight for one week shaving both my head and face every night. I shaved my head in multiple angles with the grain (WTG) and against the grain (ATG) to achieve that baby but smooth (BBS) end feel I love so much. The Knight glided across the skin of my Dome and face with fluid strokes. It took two passes with a couple of touch ups to reach the baby butt smooth end feel I want at the end of every shave. The face shave was just as smooth as the head shave was. I used a variety of DE blades to really put The Knight through the paces and at the end of the week I concluded that this safety razor is definitely worth trying for your self. No matter if your just getting into wet shaving and looking for your first manlystuff_30031905726_osafety razor or you’re a seasoned wet shaver just looking for a fantastic shave. The Knight safety razor will more than satisfy both ends of the spectrum.

The Knight safety razor head  screws and unscrews from the handle separating into two pieces for easy blade exchange and cleaning. The Knight safety razor takes standard DE blades meaning you can use your favorite blade every time. I was and still am impressed with The Knight safety razor from and I think you will be too. If you’re looking for a great shave The Knight can give you that and so much more!

Final Thoughts

So what are my final thoughts on The Knight from A hefty safety razor that provides a smooth and comfortable shave. The long and well balanced handle provides nice fluid strokes with minimal manlystuff_29982668981_oirritation. The black matte handle has a knurling that gives this safety razor a nice grip with no slippage even when wet. The mild blade gap on the razor head itself provides a shave that’s perfect for a beginner or a wet shaver that’s been around the block a few times. This is a razor that is good for any one and every one. The Knight safety razor from is approved by TheBaldNation for our Bald Nation. Love your products and you will love the results. Timeless Razor Monthly Shave Project

A month of Timeless shaving!

Not to long ago I spent a week with the TRH2 safety razor from you can read the review here (Time Less Razor) I loved29019928983_104631a143_o and still love the TRH2 I think it provides a close and comfortable shave every time. I said it once and I’ll say it again. I think it’s a titan razor that’s built to last with class and elegance. I don’t know about you but when I find a safety razor that I really like I want to use it all the time, and if a brand sells more than one kind of safety razor then I want to try them all. I’m like a kid in a candy store when it comes to safety razors. All safety razors are not the same they each have their own signature shave and sweet spot, you just have to find it. After the week timelessrazor_30590923285_oI spent with the TRH2 I decided I wanted to spend a whole month with Timeless Razor.

Once again I talked with my favorite bunch of machinist about a monthly project and they agreed, so once again I waited with anticipation for my package from TimelessRazor.Com to arrive on my door step. I always love the anticipation of waiting for a new package of shaving products, even though you see the product on line it’s not the same as seeing it in real life. If the package I’m waiting for is filled with soaps and creams Itimelessrazor_30590914565_o love the initial aroma the inside of the box has when I fist open it up, and the initial aroma of the soap is fantastic when I open or twist of the lid of the container for the first time. If the package I’m waiting for contains razors I love to see the shininess of the razor or razors before they are first used. There is just something special about the anticipation of a mail call for shaving products. I’m sure you know the feeling and what I’m talking about. The anticipation of a box full of Timeless Razors will give you the same anticipation and more. If you have had the privilege of a great shave by one of their razors then you know the feeling and if you haven’t had this pleasure yet I suggest you do so right away.

A Perfect Shave For The Whole Month!

I waited very patiently for my box of razors from Timeless Razors to arrive and once it came I opened the box to find the TRH1 and TRH4 handle with TRSBH1 solid bar head (base and cap). I already reviewed timelessrazor_29959007294_othe TRH2 pineapple design razor handle but decided to add it to the monthly review. One of the many things I like about Timeless razor is the compatibility of each razor. You have many choices when ordering your razor such as what kind of handle you want, do you want a closed or open comb razor head and you also have a choice of either an aggressive or mild blade gap. Lots of choices to choose from. Here’s the fun part, you could order two totally different razors from Timeless razor and interchange the parts. All razor parts fit each other so you can experiment until your little heart is content.

The TRH1 knurled razor handle weights in at 71 Grams giving it a nice weight for a smooth shave. The length of the handle is 85.1mm with a diameter of 12.6mm. Out of the three razors I reviewed from Timeless Razor the TRH1 handle is the shortest in timelessrazor_29957064373_olength and diameter compared to the other three handles. This lack of length and diameter does not compromise the quality of shave the TRH1 provides. In fact what it lacks in length and diameter is more than compensated by the quality of knurling found on the handle. Some razors have a knurling that looks elegant and classy but you don’t feel it while you are holding it in the palm of your hand. This is not the case with the TRH1. The knurling grips your hand more than you grip the razor. It has a very comfortable but noticeable knurling with no slippage even after the handle gets wet. Once you get the TRH1 handle in the palm of your hand it stays there until you decide to put it down. This creates a sense of reliability and stability that puts you at ease with each shave. The TRH1 is a great shave every time.

The TRH4 handle barber pole design and round neck weights in at 100 Grams with a 100MM length and 14MM in diameter. The dimensions of the TRH4 barber pole handle are very close to the sametimelessrazor_30291428280_o dimensions of the TRH2 pineapple design handle that consist of 94 Grams in weight, 100MM long with 14MM in diameter. This handle is a little longer and bigger in diameter compared to the TRH1. What I like about this handle is how it reminds me of a barbers pole. The knurling on the handle is elegant and it feels good in your hand. The knurling does not grip the palm of your hand like the knurling on the THR1 but it’s still noticeable. The longer width and length of the TRH2 gives this handle an increased maneuverability for small places such as back behind your ears or around your jaw line and Adam’s apple on your neck. This was the second handle I tried with good results for every shave.

The TRH2 Pineapple design handle with fluted neck weights in at 94 Grams, is 100mm in length and 14mm in diameter. The TRH2 is a little lighter than the TRH4 Barber Pole handle by 6 grams but doesn’t seem to change the quality of shave it provides. The pineapple design handle provides a lot of grip. The handletimelessrazor_29958991774_o varies in girth at certain points of the razor. The pineapple design knurling falls on the areas of the handle were the girth is the greatest. I particularly like this attribute of the TRH2 simply because it feels easier to hold onto. A razor that feels easier to hold onto is a razor that’s both fun and relaxing to use. Another reason why I added the once already reviewed TRH2 handle to this monthly review is to talk about the ability to interchange handles with razor heads. All of the Timeless Razors have interchangeable parts. Their handles and razor heads only interchange with each other so  you can mix and match to create different razors. I received along with the two handles an additional razor head to add to the project.

I already had the Scalloped cap with matching scalloped base that I previously reviewed. The smooth cap with matching base was the additional razor head that I received. The Scalloped cap and base has a blade29562876291_dd5dcb9c61_o gap of 0.95MM for a more aggressive shave. The smooth cap and bases blade gap measures in at 0.68MM for a more milder shave. I do prefer a more aggressive shave for my head as long as the razor has a nice weight to it. The heavier the razor is the less pressure you need letting gravity do a lot of the work. All three handles from Timeless Razor are on the heftier side so even with a milder blade gap you wont need as much pressure to get a close and comfortable shave. I mixed and matched all three handle with both the scalloped and smooth razor head with matching base. The scalloped head and base with the aggressive blade gap did very well with each handle.

I had no irritation at all on my head and face. The edges of the safety bar located on both sides of the base is more rounded compared to some other safety razors that have more of a pointed edge on their safety bar. This well rounded edge means you can change the angle of yourtimelessrazor_30590933105_o razor during shaving without causing extra irritation. If the safety bar is more pointed changing the angle of your razor may cause the safety bar to dig into your skin more causing a lot of irritation. Each shave with the razor handle and scalloped head and base combination was close and comfortable. I got a baby but smooth (BBS) shave in two passes on my head and face. The results I got with the smooth razor head with the milder blade gap was about the same. The safety bar on the base of the smooth razor head was also rounded just like the scalloped razor head. I did have to make a couple additional passes with the smooth razor head to achieve the same baby but smooth outcome because of the milder blade gap but at the end of the shave the level of comfort and smoothness was the same and both razor combinations weather timelessrazor_30590911905_oaggressive or mild provided a close shave. I also tried multiple DE blades with all three handles and razor head combinations. The more aggressive the blade the less pressure I needed. Even with the duller DE blades I used less pressure because of the heftiness of the handles. So which handle and razor combination is better? I think that’s a question only you can make. Depending on sensitivity of skin, length and coarseness of hair and frequency of shaving all play a role in what razor works best for you. What angle you use during shaving should also be included in your decision. I’m just here to tell you how fantastic the safety razors are from Timeless Razor.

Final Thoughts!

So what are my final thoughts on the razor handles and razor heads from A month full of great shaving. The TRH1,2 and TRH4 razor handles in combination with the Scalloped and Smoothed cap with matching base razor heads all provided a close andtimelessrazor_29959000334_o comfortable shave. All three handles vary in dimensions but have heftiness of handle and good quality of shave in common. The Scalloped razor head with an aggressive blade gap and the smoothed cap razor head with a medium aggressive blade gap both have a rounded safety bar located on both sides of the razor head creating a close and comfortable shave with very little to no irritation at all. All of Time less Razors handles and razor heads are interchangeable giving you a lot of choices when it comes time for you to make your selections. You also have the choice of whether you want your new razor to be polished or Matte. I used several DE blades withtimelessrazor_30554406616_o each razor and razor head combination ranging from mild to aggressiveness and each time I experienced a great shave. ALL of Timeless Razors handles and razor heads are 100% made in America which means, using cutting edge technology in their state-of-the-art manufacturing facility  their razors start of as just a piece of raw stainless steel that is cut and then machined to precision, hand cleaned and then polished creating a true work of art and a timeless razor to last a lifetime and the next lifetime after that. The Timeless Razor handles and razor heads are approved by TheBaldNation for our Bald Nation. Love your products and you will love the results. Thank you and have a #Baldtastic day!

Timeless Razor

A timeless shave to pass on to the next generation

Wet shaving is a time honored tradition that has been passed down from father to son for generation after generation. It’s quality time with your son teaching him how to shave properly avoiding  razor burn, cuts and nicks as much as possible. More men every year throw29353606800_e4093a0b28_o away their cartridge razors and gravitate towards wet shaving for different reasons. Maybe because their dad and dad’s dad practiced this form of shaving every day, or maybe they have done the research and decided to try a different way of shaving that’s better for their skin. Some men practice wet shaving as a hobby and then decide to make it their primary way of shaving. For what ever reason it is more and more men switch to wet shaving, Wet shaving is better for your skin and much cheaper for your pocket.

So why is wet shaving better for your skin and for your pocket? First off cartridge razors have multiple blades that pull the hair29019940063_a8fe5c0dca_o from your skin instead of cutting it. The blades are at more of a slanted angle that can contribute to ingrown hair and razor bumps. Razor bumps look like little pimples that can spoil your clean-shaven look and if these razor bumps continue can turn into scar tissue. Now lets look at the advantages of using a double edge razor blade. First let’s make sure we are all on the same page. A double edge razor blade is what every double edge safety razor uses. Both sides of the razor blade has a sharp edge for shaving. The angle of the safety razor is similar to the angle of the cartridge razor during shaving however a safety razor uses one blade instead of multiple blades found in cartridge razors. A double edge razor blade cuts the hair off at the skin level instead of pulling it out 29353517880_77c97c6798_ocreating a smooth and comfortable shave.

Double edge razor blades are also a lot cheaper than cartridge razors as well. A package of five count double edge razor blades cost one to five dollars compared to a package of cartridge razors that cost any were from twenty to twenty-five dollars. Depending on how often you shave depends on how long one double edge razor blade will last. For me one blade will last five to seven days with a daily shave of my head and face. Over all in the end deciding between wet shaving and cartridge shaving is a personal choice. It all depends on what you are looking for and what kind of shaving routine you are looking for. If deciding between wet shaving or cartridge shaving is a difficult decision you can always do both and get the best of both 29019935613_6da6720b7a_oworlds although I think you will see that wet shaving is the better of the two shaving modes.

Timeless Razor was started by a family of machinist who want to provide a high-end quality product that will last a life time. Not only do they want your razor to last for the rest of your life. They also want the same razor to last your children the rest of their life and Timeless razor offers a brand of razor that can achieve just that. A quality razor that can last a lifetime. Timeless Razor uses high quality materials with precision machining methods to achieve the high-end  safety razors with a life time of value. I had the honor and privilege of trying one of their safety razors for a time less shave.

A time less shave from a razor that will last a lifetime!

After talking with the fine folks over at about shaving my package soon arrived on my door step ready to be opened. I was so excited to open my package and see just what I was waiting 29562710961_7c27ce3359_ofor. I had some preconceived thoughts of what I might find and my thoughts were right. I was impressed right away with what Timeless Razor sent. This is the box my razor and accessories came in. A nice box with the Timeless Razor logo right on top in big letters. The contents of the box are as followed. One safety razor, one safety razor stand, a polishing cloth and some literature on your safety razor and how to keep it clean. The inside of the box was padded with a thick spongy insert to help protect your razor and the stand during its transportation to its final destination. The safety razor and stand were also individually packaged in a thick plastic package 29533398712_13ed40a5f2_ofor extra protection. The packaging of a product should not make up for its short comings if there are any and you should never buy a product just because you like the packaging. Sometimes brands will put a lot of money and resources into an above average packaging to try and hide the lack of quality their product holds. This is not the case with Timeless Razor. The quality of their packaging says we love our products and you will too. Their quality of packaging shows that they have thought of it all. Why make a great product and then advertise it in cheap packaging?29019891353_ec884d55fe_o That doesn’t make sense to me. Timeless Razor got it right in the very beginning. Their great product packaging matches their high-end quality razors.

So let’s get down to the nitty-gritty shall we? Lets talk about shaving! The razor I received from Timeless Razor was the TRH2 stainless steel handle with a fluted neck. The handle has a pineapple design knurling that provides a nice grip. The handle is 14mm in diameter with a length of 100mm and weights 94 grams that is machined to precision. The handle is well-balanced and has a nice weight to it. The heavier the handle the more your razor glides across your skin with fluid strokes with less pressure neede29562876291_dd5dcb9c61_od during shaving. You can let the razor and gravity do a lot of the work for you leading to less irritation, razor burn, cuts and nicks. I prefer a heavier razor compared to a lighter razor that needs more pressure applied to accomplish the same goal.

The head of the razor that came with the handle had a scalloped head and base. The head of this razor has a 0.95MM gap making it medium aggressive there is also a 0.68 option that is more on the milder side. I chose the more aggressive blade gap since I like a more aggressive razor for head shaving29644185395_651f864226_o. Don’t mistaken the scalloped head and base for an open comb concept. The razor head that I received has a safety bar. The scallop design has grooves that run across the top and align with the grooves on the safety bar. This adds a little flair to the razor and helps the razor glide through your shaving soap or cream decreasing irritation after your shave is complete. The head of the razor screws on and off of the handle. The head separates into two pieces for easy blade removal. The Timeless Razors accept all of your favorite standard DE blades. The one thing you will notice right away when looking at the head of the razor is the extra-large gully that runs beneath the blade on both sides of the head. If you look on the bottom of the plate you29019882643_591e7b748f_o will also seed extra long and wide openings as well. I can honestly say that I have not seen this with any other safety razor and has proven to be very useful. The wide gully is were all of the hair and shaving cream collects during shaving. This wide gully makes it very easy to clean all of the unwanted hair and soap out of the razor. Just turn the razor on its side under running water and watch all of the unwanted hair and soap come out of the other end and down the drain. If for some reason it’s just not coming out the other option is to turn the razor upside down and run water through the extra-large opening on the bottom of the head. There’s more ways than one to keep your razor clean. I29533397182_29c93b0d01_o absolutely love this feature and it is one of the many reasons why I use this razor more and more every week.

The TRH2 is a great razor to use for head shaving. I got a smooth shave with the grain and against the grain in one to two passes every time with very little to no irritation after every shave. I used this razor every day for one week with the same multiple angles each time. I always start each head shave on the top of my head shaving against the grain from front to back always paying extra attention to my hair-line. After I have finished with the top of my head I move on to the sides where I shave back to front pulling29353503960_0f20323644_o the razor across my skin and then from the bottom to the top. For this angle I turn the razor upside down but still keep it at a thirty degree angle and shave against the grain. After I’ve finished with the sides, the last area I tackle is the back of my head which takes the longest and the most attention because of the real estate I have to cover. I start with shaving from top to bottom, then bottom to top and sometimes finish off with side to side all at a thirty degree angle. I tried several different DE blades with this safety razor and every shave had the same close and comfortable outcome. Even the DE blades that29353608310_d78a0114b9_o were more on the dull side provided a smooth shave.

Another difference with the Timeless Razor is the shape of the safety bar on the front of the razor. The safety bar is more rounded were some safety razors have a more pointed safety bar. A pointed safety bar digs into you skin more compared to a  rounded safety bar that glides across your skin. The face shave was just as comfortable as the head shave was. I also received a stainless steel stand that held my razor firmly in an upright position. The stand itself weights 152 grams making it a solid and heavy stand. I love the way the TRH2 razor 29019928983_104631a143_olooks when its sitting upright in its stand. The whole outfit looks very classy, it just looks like a razor that would and could last a lifetime. Last but not least the TRH2 29019929353_5f40f306f2_orazor and stand are also stamped on the bottom with the Timeless Razor logo. A nice touch that just adds more class to this already classy razor. I’ve enjoyed my week with the TRH2 safety razor from it truly is a high-end razor machined with quality precision. Don’t just take my word for it. Try one for yourself. If you don’t your just missing out on what could be the best shave of your life!

Final Thoughts

So what do I think of the TRH2 safety razor from A timeless shave from a timeless razor. The TRH2 safety razor is made of stainless steel weighing in at 94 grams giving the well-balanced handle a hefty weight providing a level of fluidness with each stroke. The handle of the TRH2 has a pineapple design29562696331_15422a96ff_o knurling giving this already long and hefty handle even more of a grip. The 146 gram stand is a solid base that holds your razor upright until the next time you want it. The handle of the TRH2 safety razor and the bottom of the stand are both stamped with the TimelessRazor.Com logo. The Scalloped head and base of the razor head has a blade gap of 0.95mm giving it a medium aggressive shave. The scalloped head and base adds precision along with smoothness and a comfort level at the end of each shave that only the TRH2 safety razor from Timeless Razors can provide. The TRH2 safety razor from Timeless Razors is a solid razor that’s built to last machined to precision. All of the Timeless razors are made right here in the USA, this is a razor that you can pass down to the next generation of wet shavers. The TRH2 stands tried and true as a titan of razors. The TRH2 safety razor from TimelessRazor.Com is approved by TheBaldNation for our Bald Nation. Love your products and you will love the results. Thank you and have a #Baldtastic day
